Overview:
Our client, a leading manufacturer in Sunbury-on-Thames, is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise wiring of electrical components and assemblies, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy in the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wiring Assembly: Perform detailed wiring tasks, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and connecting wires according to wiring diagrams and work instructions.
- Cable Harnessing: Assemble and route cable harnesses, securing wires with ties and clamps to ensure proper connections.
- Soldering: Accurately solder wires and components to connectors, terminals, and circuit boards, ensuring strong and reliable electrical connections.
- Wire Testing: Conduct continuity and insulation resistance testing on wiring assemblies to confirm they meet specified standards.
- Wiring Documentation: Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings to complete wiring tasks with precision.
- Quality Control: Inspect and verify all wiring work to ensure it meets quality and safety standards before final assembly.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve wiring issues, such as shorts, breaks, or incorrect connections, to maintain production efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working with electrical components, adhering to the company's 5S policy and health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ongoing Training: Participate in training for specialised wiring tools and equipment as required.
- Additional Tasks: Assist with other wiring-related duties and general production tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting English.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools specific to wiring, including cutters, strippers, crimp tools, and soldering irons.
- Experience with electrical testing equipment such as continuity testers and multimeters.
Desired:
- Experience with complex wiring assemblies and harnessing.
- Familiarity with the use of computers for data entry and information retrieval using software such as Word and Excel.
