East Anglia ONE

The East Anglia Array is a proposed series of offshore wind farms to be located around 30 miles off the east coast of East Anglia, in the North Sea. It is being developed in partnership by ScottishPower Renewables and Vattenfall. Up to six individual projects could be set up in the area with a maximum capacity of up to 7.2 GW. The first project, East Anglia ONE received planning consent in June 2014, with offshore construction beginning in 2018. The 300 square kilometre wind farm is expected to be operating by 2020.

East Anglia ONE will consist of 102 Siemens wind turbines and foundations, each rated at 7 megawatts. This gives an overall generating capacity of up to 714 megawatts to power 600 thousand UK homes, making it one of the world’s largest wind farms.

The principle contractor is Iberdrola, the Spanish arm of ScottishPower, and East Anglia ONE is the largest project ever undertaken by a Spanish company. Mane works with Iberdrola directly on individual senior project agreements to supply talent for specific roles. Under these agreements, Mane manages everything from commercials to remuneration for positions within health and safety, engineering and senior management.

The breadth of Mane’s work on the job will eventually cover the whole project lifecycle, from operations and maintenance (O&M) staff, vessel crew, project management, planning and commissioning professionals to cabling, lifting and rigging crews.

Mane won the contract after previously working with the client on similar projects, most recently the Wikinger wind farm off the German coast.

As a true specialist in this area, with unrivalled talent reach and extensive experience in recruiting the niche roles that these projects require, Mane is the logical choice of partner on this type of venture. As such, the consultancy has since been approved to supply a number of other companies which are working on the project including GeoSea, JDR Cable Systems, Tideway, Deep Ocean, Siemens and Vestas. Working in this way - supplying multiple clients on the same project - means that Mane can nurture healthy talent pools locally and build ready-made teams to move from job to job, which benefits clients and candidates alike.
