Cable Design Engineer

An excellent opportunity for a Cable Design Engineer to working for leading specialist for major land cable installation project specialist. Previous project experience must include civil engineering, utilities, or cabling.

As a Cable Design Engineer you will be responsible for the below:

• System Engineering, Reliability/Availability/Maintainability/Safety (RAMS) studies
• Project Co-ordination for project interface
• Inherent knowledge of HV AC and DC electrical cable systems at transmission level (400kV and possibly above)
• Underground cable system design
• Thermo-mechanical design, electrical current carrying capacity, ventilation/cooling for various direct buried, ducted, troughed and tunnel applications
• Design Assurance

As a Cable Design Engineer the below requirements are essential

• Cable manufacturing industry - including experience and/or working knowledge of the test laboratories.
• Working knowledge of National Grid Standards and specs
• Principle Designer experience as per National Grid TP188
