Preferred agency refers to a situation where a client works with a small number of agencies who have been pre-qualified on the basis of ability to supply, financial security, quality procedures etc. These suppliers will then be appointed to the client’s preferred agency (or preferred supplier) list, and will normally have pre-agreed terms set by the client thereby removing the need for service users to engage in individual negotiations.
The preferred agency route is commonly used by clients to bring under control a situation where they have too many suppliers.
